A Secret Place on our Farm

Yesterday we enjoyed our weekly trail ride.  We chose to picnic at a different location which was deeper in the jungle.  We safely tied our horses to some trees and wandered in the inviting jungle.  The incredible towering trees above, allowing mottled sunlight softly peep through, were magnificent. Scraggly vines tangled through the trees were like large slithering serpents, and so much fun to swing with above the stream.  To our surprise we arrived at a spectacular turquoise lagoon leading into caves.  We joyfully swam through the impressive caves which opened up to monolithic boulders that had fallen from a steep cliff. A small waterfall splashed upon the rocks on the other side. It was magical. Unfortunately we didn't have a camera for the wonder we found on the other side.

Sania sweetly asked me if the water gets hurt when it crashes on the rocks and Sasha kindly replied.  "No Sania, this is mother earth drinking water and the water is flowing through her stomach."

    I absolutely love your blog! I think that your boys are so lucky to have the kind of life you are giving them. You are making us all jealous ;O) I think that you have the kind of outdoor life that most of us SA expats are looking for for our kids, fantastic!

    Thank you for your lovely compliments. Nice to come across another fellow S African, there are so many! Yes our place reminds me of our life in Africa, that's why I fell in love with it. It's the perfect place for little boys.

    I said to Fabien that I should find a way to make them bigger.. the problem is that it takes so long to upload. If you click on them they show the image larger.

    What an amazing adventure.
    The colour of the water is stunning. Is this fairly typical of the Dominican Republic, or are you guys just lucky!

    Thanks for stopping by my Moon Child blog. It led me to your blog, which is just beautiful! Fantastic, inviting photographs of your jungle life with your beautiful boys. I raised my two boys on a farm also, but a New England farm looks so much different your landscape.
