A glimpse of our adventures

The majestic oaks throughout much of Florida State Parks to Louisiana left a special and wonderful impression. I admire them immensely. Their elegance is unparalleled. They embellish those gardens of those lucky enough to have them. Their massive trunks towering the streets, with sphagnum moss draping down like silky gnome beards. The branches sweep down providing a wonderful play area for children and those chattering squirrels, feasting so well on those sweet acorns.

The fascinating swamp lined along the Lake Pontchartrain is home to many alligators! While strolling along the shore, the children found many mussels in the water.  They collected the vacant ones to keep as treasures.

I wish we had spent more time in the city of Santa Fe.  A charming little city where most if not all the homes and building were of adobe-like architecture..even McDonalds!.  The buildings seem to be restricted to two stories only, no high rises in sight -  lovely to revel the beautiful blue sky and famous fluffy clouds of New Mexico.

We found this charming little place deep in the forest of Pecos in the New Mexico Mountains.  The air was chilly because we were at 7800 feet in a valley.  The children fished a little (didn't catch anything) and frolicked along the waters edge.

We collected fire wood and made a little fire in a charming wood hut which had a chimney place. We snuggled and enjoyed the warmth of the fire reminiscing our adventures.

Magnificent Mountains and their creative powers as they sculptor the earth.

The children throwing rocks into the stillness of the lake, forming ringlets in the water.

We are presently enjoying a beautiful campsite at Lake Heron in New Mexico. The air is fresh, the days are warm and the nights cool.  The perfect temperature!  We remain here for just over a week before venturing onto Colorado.

We cycle along the rugged trails. The children enjoy skimming slate stones into the lake, collecting fire wood, making forts and preparing meals.  Little time is spared for a bit of road-schooling!

  3. These are the simple, wonderful pleasures of life. We all need to remember to take time out of our lives to do these things. So wonderful that you are doing this with your kids while they are still young. They will remember this for the rest of their lives.
