Pony Boys

Sasha with Mitzi

These little ponies are a great part of our life bringing immense joy to our family.  Our young boys are so devoted to these sweet little creatures.

Attached are two very precious videos of my children swimming and riding their ponies,, they are amazing and I'm sure you will enjoy watching them as much as I do.

  2. Darling girl - how wonderful these are. How I envy the boys these child-time experiences. Things have been wild here, but not romantically wild. My youngest is now married, and I have flown to visit my oldest. Now, all I want to do is be quiet. Yesterday, I threw myself around the neck of each of my horses, one at a time - buried my nose into those warm manes and kissed them to pieces. I may not ride much, but I press my heart to my silent loves and wonder at my luck. So maybe I have a tiny piece of what you have given the boys.

  3. Ach- that last jump was really something. Brave little pony - all four feet up. That first film was marvelous. That choppy pony trot, and the boys are part of it. And the dogs tearing around like crazy puppies - and chasing the baby cow (mama starting to square off). The land, the joy. And I'd do plenty for a treat myself. I haven't worked with any of mine on bowing and that kind of thing. In another life, I will - I promise. Your seat is so perfect and solid. All lovely. All beautiful. Now I'm going to watch the other one.

  4. Happy wet dogs. Happy wet ponies. Itchy nosed big horses - that was a laugh. Diving off pony-backs - glorious. And the ponies are so calm - I think my Zi would be freaked out by the water at first - I have to talk him into walking across the streams and I've never taken him across the river, not even once. But he'd enjoy it after a while. If we lived in a tropical paradise. The children will be spoiled forever, J, and you know it - there's an old song from I think the second world war- How Ya gonna keep them down on the farm, after they've seen Paris??? But your problem is the opposite? How you going to get them to live the way mere mortals do after they've lived in Eden?

  9. This must be one of the most beautiful earthboys posts I have ever seen Jeanene. How I love these windows into the amazing world you live in. Seeing these photos and videos has changed the whole flavour of my morning and filled me with all sorts of inspiring and peaceful ideas and plans. Thank you to you and your boys (and their dear little ponies!) - just exactly what I needed xx

  10. Thank you for your comment on my patchwork blog post, of course my garden doesn't match yours but it still has beauty within it, and the courgette / marrow pickle is definitely worth a try!

  11. Hello Jeanene
Your boys are naturals. They are as at home on their ponies' backs as they are on their own two feet. Such precious friends they have in their ponies. You have truly captured so much in these clips, not only the trust and respect between boy and pony but also the boys' incredible ever increasing riding skills, over land, in water, jumps, kneeling, down uneven land...I love the boys lying on the ponies backs and standing on them and jumping in the water. You must be so proud of your boys and how special it is to have such a love of horses to share with your children. I can almost feel the warmth of the water, the feel and smell of the ponies, the hot air. It reminds me a little of when I was a child and my brother and sister and I would go off on long rides back in Zim, riding over miles of open space and cooling off in streams. I hold those memories so dear and they are so imprinted in me, just as these times for your boys will always be with them. How precious it is that you can give your boys this experience. Love to you, my friend.

  12. Wow! My Eldest, the REAL horse person here, marveled at how well behaved the ponies are. And we ALL marveled at the gorgeous trails that you get to ride! Sigh. We went riding to the lake this summer, but that ride involves a hard-surfaced road - not NEARLY as stunning scenery as you are surrounded by.

  13. How extremely wonderful life is in your part of the world. Did Autumn arrive at your doorstep too, or wait, I believe Spring is arriving in your corner.
Warm wishes for a happy weekend xx

  14. Both videos are wonderful but the part where you have the two boys on the back of your horse with you while swimming. That just spoke to me. You have such love for your boys and your family. The closeness of your boys is something they will cherish forever. What a gift you are giving them in this life you are giving them.

  15. I saw the photo of Sasha and Mitzi on google and it brought tears to my eyes. I grew up in Florida riding and swimming with my horses in the same way. The flood of memories was overwhelming. The memories your boys are making will last a lifetime.
    Thank you for sharing.
