Colorado Rafting and Friends

Rafting
]
The rapids were not as big in Durango as they were in Buena Vista so we felt rather brave to ride with the wave.  It was great fun and after that the boys said they wanted bigger waves.

A big wave

Today we went tubing in the smaller rapids of Pagosa, that was so much fun.  Since we were all in the water we didn't have a camera to catch those comical moments.  We nearly toppled a few times and boy did we laugh.

Shining Silver Fish

Our Shining silver fish traveling home nestled amidst the large pines.  It is so nice to wake in the morning to the fresh smell of pine.

Creek in Vallecito

and refresh in the cool, crisp waters of this cascading creek.

Renee and her family

To enjoy the company of Renee and her sweet family who we met last year and visit with once again.  We celebrated sweet little Chloe's 11th birthday.

Playing on the rocks

The children played so beautifully together.

Sweet Children

Sweet unworldliness.

Campfire songs and roasting marshmallows

A little campfire singing and roasting of marshmallows to compliment our beautiful day.

  2. It looks like the perfect place for some camping adventure! I especially love the picture of your trailer parked amongst the trees. We are also going camping in our trailer this week, but we are staying in the same place instead of traveling. Though we are going for a little over a month, and I really cannot wait. Camping is the best!

Enjoy the rest of your vacation!

  5. Oh - did you stop in at Parelli's? We JUST drove through there last night. Rainbow gifts is our favorite place in the world, and we would take the mountain road just for that, if not for the beauty. But we didn't get to see much of the beauty - we'd taken our time at Arches and were playing more site-see than travel. When we hit Pagosa, we found a HUGE storm system - the first rain they'd had since May, and could hardly see through our windshield for the torrents of rain. So we missed the smell of pine. It had all hit the ground in rapids that were standing on their heads. I wanted to stop at Parelli - but we were running twenty minutes too late - so I couldn't. Again. Some day, I will drive down inside and see the place for myself. I imagined hauling poor Zi all those hours in the trailer, but got to worried over the idea.

My favorite picture is the one of you and your baby boy. Wait - it just occurred to me that you might even still be here - but then, the "here" where I am is Santa Fe, I remind myself - not Pagosa. I'd have waved and thrown kisses as we left town last night if only I'd known. If you're still there, go look at Rainbow - on the southern end, the Old Town, and tell Brenda you know me. And go into the jewelry room and look at the bracelets made by Genevieve and Carl (if I'm remembering his name correctly). There won't be any more of them made because he is very ill - and they are the most beautiful things I've ever seen. And would suit your wrist profoundly.

  6. It's Curtis. Genevieve and Curtis. Having something of theirs to keep - even though I have never met them - brings a blessing in my life.

  8. Your holiday is looking fantastic fun :-) I love the van can you show us the inside?? Did you stop at Parelli's?? How awesome would that be!

I have rescued a new pony and he is responding well to clicker training, he is a shetland x welsh so only tiny. The universe sent him to me as I had just put down my old thoroughbred who used to take all my time and obviously had time and love to spare again :-)

Gorgeous photo of your baby :-)

  9. Camping is one thing we've not done a lot of in the last few years. We need to get back to it. The older boys have and do, with their scouting troops all summer long but not us as a family....... we all miss it.

The river rafting would terrify me! :D This fall I am bound and determined to learn to swim.
