Waldorf Doll I made for Sasha

This is a little doll I made for Sasha for his birthday this month.  It is my second attempt and am so happy with the way it turned out.  The last doll's head was too big for his body and Sania didn't like his hair.  With the help of a boy kit from Joy's Waldorf Dolls the 10" brother/sister pattern and this amazing Waldorf Doll Making Instructional DVD it was a success.  Joy's waldorf dolls also has a doll making dvd which you can find on the first link.  I showed Sania some photos of different wig options and this is the one he chose for his brother's doll - Sania wants one to:)  It was much easier the second time .  I wonder what his name will be.

  1. I have been looking forward to seeing him, he is wonderful Jeanene! The girls want me to make them boy dolls, for some reason doing the short hair kinda scares me. You did such a great job. I love the cap too!

  7. Ah, yes. Perfect. He looks so rasta. But then, he also reminds me of a couple of sweet and wild boys I know. I think what I like best about the hair is the surprising highlights and glints. Yes, this is a very solid boys' doll. Funny about that - so many things to recommend him: he has character of his own. And he is boy-like. And his boy got to chime in on the design level. And he's an extension of mother love. Good work, baby. Great work.

  9. That little doll is just beautiful! I made my oldest a babydoll before her sister was born and she adores it despite its (many) imperfections. It was a bit tricky. I'll have to get that DVD before my next attempt. Here's to doll making and to birthdays!

  12. Jeanene, he's perfect. Lucky, lucky Sasha. I think doll making is a quasi-magical art. Its just amazing to watch these little beings form in our hands, isn't it! In some way I think you've also managed to give this doll a little of Sasha's own spirit - the unique blend of wildness and gentleness that comes through in the photos you post here. I hope he has (or has had?) a wonderful, wonderful birthday.

  13. Such a sweet dolly Jeanene. I love his little shoes. Did you use a pattern for it? I have yet to make shoes for Camille and Noah's' dollies.
