Sania on his Papa's shoulders |
Play! Something my children know how to do very well. Water play is a big favorite, especially with their papa. They spend much time in the pool cooling down from the intense tropical sun, after jumping in the trampoline or riding their bikes.
I never taught my children to swim. We've always played in the pool. The children became comfortable with the water and learnt to move their bodies like a fish. Sania began swimming on his own at two and a half and Sasha at the age of three.
Some images of the children with their dad, I captured a couple of days ago.

They always want to be thrown higher.

My mom has been visiting the past couple of weeks. She to is a great swimmer and spent much time swimming with the boys when they were little. The boys have copied her elegant strokes and have kept her quite entertained with their playful energy.

Oh what fun! I miss swimming and well, warm weather in general!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words on my blog, btw <3
What great family fun! You have a lovely pool!
ReplyDeleteWe are in the midst of what Environment Canada is calling a "Winter Storm"...on APRIL 20th! So THIS post is a balm to a tired mama who is listening to ice pellets bouncing against the windows. Big time sighing goin' on here...
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing setting for a pool. All those glorious tropical trees in the background! It's lovely to see Sasha and Sania having such a wonderful time with their dad and nice to see some more of your family too! Beautiful pictures as always.
ReplyDeleteIn that intense heat, how can you NOT keep away from the water? I think it would be my saving grace if I were in the same situation. Someday I would like a pool. Levi loves water and loves to swim. Water stimulates him. With the way he is drawn to water, I have always been afraid of having a pool until he could swim. I spend too many days in bed or on the couch and have worried about his safety. Having a pool to worry about with him would have put me six feet under.
ReplyDeleteSomeday though soon I hope. With the winters here, pool care is a pain too.
A daddy being able to spend time with his children in the act of play is such a precious gift that so many children do not have. I am so glad that your two sweet boys have that gift.
Beautiful pictures - My kids cannot wait until it is warm enough to swim again. For us - in West Virginia - it will be around Memorial Day.
ReplyDeletePoor Wabi - a storm today. We are merely gray and on the chill side of cool. And poor Rachel - she'd do well with that sun on her little self. But lucky Sania and Sasha, being tossed into the hot air to fall, smashing the water into diamonds - laughing. My G grew up with a pool in his backyard. And when we visited his parents over the decades, my children learned to swim the same way. They were simply in the water, and being in it, learned how it worked. I have the same kind of pictures - the children flying into the air with father, uncles, grandfather - and sometimes mother - below, laughing. On this gray day, you took me back to those times, now long gone. Only a floody, muddy, fenced river in the back yard - too much ground water for a pool. But then, I do not wake up with nightmares about Scooter wandering into either -
ReplyDeleteFunny how we really should walk the line between protecting and allowing to learn - if they don't have experiences - if they don't fall at least a little - they grow up knowing so little about anything, including cause and effect, action and consequence. In water, you learn quickly - and now I'm waxing philosophical and a little religious - water is a forgiving master; you may not be able to breath it, but it never lets you fall.
We had a pool, too, when I was a kid and how much fun it was! Those boys are so lucky :-)

My boys would love a pool in their back garden! We go down to the creek for our swimming or into town to the big pool where it is really deep. Sooty looks like he is about to claw his way out of that cuddle :-)
ReplyDeleteHello to you Jeanene~!
ReplyDeleteThank you so very much for poping by my blog. Its good to be back with you all. These days you are having with the boys, gran and papa are days I remember too well in Zimbabwe. Hot hot..the tar used to bubble in the street. I love the way children play with their Dads. Its getting cold in South Africa now. Trying desperately to hold onto the warmth down South..but I suppose others in the North need a little warm lovin now too.
I hope you are well. Also a very happy Easter celebration to you~
Lots of love
Suzanne
